‘Determination’ Giclée Print 8×8″

‘Determination’ the third Pen and Ink drawing in the heritage print series. For this piece I studied photos of Richard E. Byrd’s 1929 Antarctic Expedition, which influenced the landscape depicted here and the type of harness he used for the dogs in his team which are dissimilar to the modern day x-backs more commonly seen in sled dog racing. The image here shows an example of a malamute using their strength to the fullest by using perfect pulling technique to get the sled out of deep snow. The animal credited as influence for this image is ‘Lucie’ of Windberg Kennels.
